Over 140 professionals from the world of multimedia signal processing gathered at the University’s Putteridge Bury campus for the IEEE 19^th International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing

The Workshop brought together experts from the realms of signal processing, computer science, communications, medical and rehabilitation technologies, to exchange ideas on how multimedia research can support advancements of future healthcare, and how best to facilitate interactions between multimedia researchers and healthcare and assisted living providers.

Keynote talks delivered throughout the event covered topics including smart homes in city environments, mass audio recording available via social networks, recent achievements in 3D video and online video streaming and the use of multimedia computer technologies for autism treatment.

Delegates travelled as far afield as China, India, Japan, Australia, America and Brazil to attend the conference.

Dr Vladan Velisavljevic from the University’s School of Computer Science & Technology said: “We were delighted to host such an important international event. This is a world-leading conference in the area of multimedia signal processing research community that includes audio, video and 3D video processing, signal processing for healthcare and various novel technologies for multimedia signals.”
