The latest National Student Survey (NSS) has seen students from the University of Bedfordshire’s Education and Sport faculty name Bedfordshire as a top-15 university for Education courses.

The faculty also sits in the top 30 nationally for Initial Teacher Education degrees, and in the top 25 for Sport Science, with it either rising or maintaining its position in every single category of the NSS.

The faculty’s Physical Education (Secondary) degree was a stand-out performer, with almost all evaluated course categories, including overall satisfaction, rated 100%.

A further five courses – Childhood and Youth Studies, Early Years Education, Education Studies, Sport and Exercise Science, and Sport and Physical Education – registered overall satisfaction scores of over 90%,whilst Childhood and Youth Studies, and Education Studies were also marked above the sector in every area.

Compared to last year’s results, only the student satisfaction statistic for Teaching remained the same, at a high 88%, with all six other categories rising.

Furthermore, all seven areas – including Teaching, Learning Resources and Personal Development – were above the sector average, with the overall satisfaction level of 88% comfortably higher.

Executive Dean of Education and Sport, Sally Bentley, said:

“We are delighted that levels of student satisfaction have increased again this year.

“This is a testament to both our commitment to enhancing the student experience on all our courses and the significant investment in state of the art facilities at the University.”

The NSS asks final-year undergraduates to provide honest feedback on what it has been like to study at their institution.

83.1% of Bedfordshire’s 2015 graduates gave the University their seal of approval, representing the University’s second highest NSS score since the survey began ten years ago. Bedfordshire remains one of the top-ten universities in the country for improving the student experience.

In total, eight courses at the University of Bedfordshire received an overall satisfaction rating of 100% and a further 28 received a score of 90% or above. The survey also showed that Bedfordshire continues to be one of the leading universities in the country for improving the career prospects and choices of its students and for aiding students’ personal development, with ratings of 82% and 84% respectively.
