Survey shows Bedfordshire is a top university for improving the student experience
Wed 12 August, 2015Students continue to have a positive and satisfying experience at the University of Bedfordshire, according to an independent national poll.
In this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), which asks final year undergraduates to provide honest feedback on what it has been like to study at their institution, 83.1% of Bedfordshire’s 2015 graduates gave the University their seal of approval.
This represents the University’s second highest NSS score since the survey began 10 years ago, while Bedfordshire remains one of the top 10 universities in the country for improving the student experience.
Commenting on the results of this year’s survey, Vice Chancellor Bill Rammell said:
“We made enhancing students’ experience our top priority when I arrived at Bedfordshire three years ago, so I am delighted that we now consistently achieve high satisfaction levels, and continue to be a top-ranking university in the country for improving the student experience.
“In the past few months, we have seen more examples of the continued positive progress we are making in respect of enhancing the student experience. This has included our 17 place rise in the Guardian University Guide, where we were one of the top ten risers in the country, as well as our improvement in the Complete University Guide, which saw Bedfordshire rise by 7 places.”
Over 2,300 final year students completed the National Student Survey (NSS) at the University of Bedfordshire this year, representing a response rate of 83%. This matched the 2014 response rate and shows that the results are a true representation of the view of Bedfordshire students and their experience during their time as part of the University community.
In total, eight courses at the University of Bedfordshire received an ‘overall satisfaction’ rating of 100% and a further 28 received a score of 90% or above. The survey also shows that Bedfordshire continues to be one of the leading universities in the country for improving the career prospects and choices of its students and for aiding students’ personal development, with ratings of 82% and 84% respectively.
The NSS results have been published as the University of Bedfordshire prepares for this year’s Clearing round, which opens on Thursday 13 August. Bill Rammell concluded:
“These results will show to students considering the University of Bedfordshire that we are wholly-committed to ensuring our students have the best possible student and learning experience. This is reflected in our high quality teaching, our outstanding facilities and the great student support we provide.
“We offer our students a truly life-changing, life-enhancing experience that will inspire them to become employable and entrepreneurial global citizens.”
