Bedfordshire Excellence Scholarship - Terms and Conditions

  • The Bedfordshire Excellence Scholarship will be paid in each subsequent year of study as long as the recipient maintains a 2:1 average and maintains an appropriate standard of behaviour. For those students undertaking a two year intensive degree, they will only be entitled to receive the first two years. This is also dependent on maintaining a 2:1 average.
  • Applicants who achieve ABB+ grades or HEFCE recognised equivalent in their studies in 2015 prior to entering the University will be awarded this scholarship.
  • Applicants may hold a sports scholarship and UCMK Bursary plus one from Access Bursary, Bedfordshire Excellence Scholarship or Academic Scholarship.
  • For UK students, this scholarship is inclusive of the welcome package which will constitute the first instalment, to find out about subsequent payment options please see the payment details section. EU students will need to contact SAB@beds.ac.uk for information regarding their payment plan.
  • Applicants who are eligible for the enhanced welcome package will receive the additional payment of £150 Aspire credit on top of this scholarship.
  • Applicants will be awarded the most valuable scholarship that they are eligible for.
  • Scholarships will be awarded only to students who are fully registered at the University for the 2015/16 academic year.
  • Prior to registration the University will contact applicants using the email address provided by their UCAS application. To change this address please contact UCAS.
  • Once registered the University will also contact the student using the University student email account. It is the student's responsibility to check this account regularly for important information regarding the payment of their scholarship.
  • Successful scholars must maintain an appropriate standard of behaviour throughout their course of study at the University of Bedfordshire. If a recipient does not meet the appropriate standard of behaviour and the scholarship is withdrawn from that individual it will not be offered to another student from that cohort.
  • Scholars may be required on occasion to represent the student body and assist the University to publicise its activities and work with the University in promoting its successes and seeking other financial support.
  • Scholarship recipients will be invited to attend University events promoting the value of scholarships and are expected to attend. The University may decide to publicise the names of those who receive scholarships or advise a specific donor of the successful recipients of a particular award
  • The University reserves the right to withhold payment of the scholarship if scholarship holders withdraw, interrupt, not attend or otherwise do not progress satisfactorily with their studies.
  • Scholarship holders must remain in good financial standing with the University.
  • The University may also seek to reclaim monies paid where progress is not satisfactory.
