It is our mission to educate and facilitate patient care concepts in a simulated environment that promotes knowledge development, patient safety, skills application, clinical reasoning, and evaluation.

The mission of the University’s clinical skills suite underpins the educational and professional core values of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) by "promoting health and well-being through excellence in healthcare education, research, practice and service whilst fostering diversity and inclusivity" in a simulation environment.

Learning in the simulation suite

Through simulation BESST seeks to promote excellence and growth of the undergraduate and post graduate programs. Simulation promotes a “unique and innovative contribution” to healthcare utilising current knowledge and evidence-based practice to guide the basis and focus of the scenarios.

The suite aims to develop, promote and encourage safe practice in a simulation learning environment for a variety of clinical care settings, including a ward, operating theatre, post anaesthetic care and other critical care settings. In doing so, students are able to develop and demonstrate a multi-disciplinary team collaborative working process that is open and respectful utilising effective teamwork in variety of diverse clinical learning environments, such as acute and critical care, paediatrics, obstetrics, and community healthcare practice. Through simulation students are provided with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their leadership qualities, through communication, delegation, prioritisation, safety and professionalism to promote and enhance patient healthcare outcomes.
