'The Active University'
We are excited to announce our Annual Staff Conference will take place on Thursday 11 July 2019 in the Postgraduate and CPD Centre, Luton campus.
About our conference
We hold a conference annually to bring colleagues together from all disciplines on a shared theme to debate, generate ideas, network with colleagues you wouldn’t normally meet and have a chance to develop ourselves and think about how we deliver transformational opportunities for our students.
Conference Theme
We run the staff conference to enable connections and networking between staff across the organisation, and as such our theme for this year will be ‘The Active University’, looking at how we are active in learning, research and the community.
Format of the conference for 2019
The conference will feature keynote talks from the Vice Chancellor, Bill Rammell, and Professor Paul Kleiman, who will share their thoughts on an Active University in practice.
We will also have thought-provoking parallel sessions that will explore our conference theme, with quickfire presentations from around our Research Institutes, role play to understand student learning, and discussion on how to develop a mindset for success.
A ‘Question Time’ style panel debate also returns this year with a great line-up of external and internal speakers.
No-meeting Thursday
The Vice Chancellor has asked that no other events and activities, apart from already timetabled teaching, be arranged on July 11th to give most people the opportunity to attend at least part of the day and to signal that creating a ‘connected university’ is an important priority as we work together on the opportunities and challenges ahead.
