Key information

Identification: Please bring your student ID, which will be checked upon entry. If you don’t have your student ID, another form of valid ID will be required.
Remember Your Login Details: Ensure you know your student login details and passwords to avoid any last-minute issues.
WISEflow Sign On: Log into WISEflow before exam day; practice exams may be available.

Examination Timetable

You can access your Examination Timetable by logging into your personal timetable.

The exam timetable will be published 6 weeks before the examination period.

You can identify the session is an exam on your timetable, because the session will be in green.

Online Remote Exams: Many exams are “Online Remote,” meaning they can be taken off-campus in a suitable location. You will know your exam is online remote when the timetable specifies “online/remote” as the venue.
On-Campus Invigilated Exams: Some courses have specific regulations requiring exams to be invigilated on-site. If your timetable indicates a room (e.g., D102/103 in Luton, Training Room 1/2 in Bedford, AY105 in Aylesbury), you are expected to attend the exam in person.

Please arrive to the exam room 30 minutes before the exam start time.

Doors will CLOSE 5 minutes before the scheduled start, and late entry will not be permitted.

We strongly suggest you visit the rooms where your exams will take place in advance to familiarise yourself with the location and layout.

Get help during your exam

If you need help:

During an on-campus exam

Raise your hand and an invigilator will come to you.
If you need technical support the team will attempt to assist you
If you are unwell, raise your hand and ask to speak to the senior invigilator. They will advise you of what to do next.

During an Online Remote exam

You MUST contact exams@beds.ac.uk as soon as possible to alert the team of your issue. This must be done during your exam and not after the upload deadline.
Exam team will be unable to assist you after the end of an exam.
When emailing the exams team, please include the following information to assist them fully (use your University of Bedfordshire email address):
- Full Name (As stated on your ID card)
- Student ID Number
- Unit Code
- Location of Study (Course)

Examination Access Arrangements

Practice Exams

At the University of Bedfordshire, all formal examinations are conducted through our Digital Examinations Environment, powered by WISEflow.

Why Practice Exams? Practice exams are a fantastic way to familiarise yourself with the format and style of online exams you’ll encounter. They help you build confidence and ensure you’re fully prepared for the real thing.

How to Access Practice Exams:

Check Your Email: Practice exams will be sent to you by the Examinations team. Keep an eye on your University of Bedfordshire email for notifications from WISEflow.
Past Papers: For insights into the content of specific unit exams, start by reviewing past papers. Follow our Past Paper Access Guide [DOCX] for instructions.

Demo Exams

Demo Exams: All students with upcoming exams can access Demo Flows through WISEflow. These demos provide a hands-on experience with the exam interface.

Need Help?

Make a complaint

We understand that sometimes things do not always go to plan, we appreciate all feedback regarding exams both positive and negative.

If you wish to raise a concern relating to an exam you have taken or the exams process in general you have 2 options to do this:

Informal Complaint

In the first instance, students are invited to raise their concern with the exams team directly. An email to exams@beds.ac.uk with the subject "Complaint" will allow the team to identify your concern quickly and allow you to receive the most prompt response possible.

This will then be passed to the Examinations Manager who will review your concerns and provide you with a response/ resolution directly. In this response you will be given details of how you can raise your concerns formally if you are not satisfied with the response given.

Formal Complaint

The University of Bedfordshire is committed to maintaining an effective procedure to allow all members of its community to make legitimate complaints.

Where informal pursuit of a complaint proves unsatisfactory and requires intervention of objective parties, the formal stages of the Student Complaints Procedure are available to students.

What should I expect?

Before your exam

The University of Bedfordshire offers two types of digital exams through WISEflow:

Online Remote Exams: These exams can be taken off-campus at a location of your choice. Ensure you have a reliable internet connection and a PC or laptop available for the entire exam period.
Online On-Campus Exams: These exams are taken in a designated room on campus. The room location will be listed on your exam timetable. Make sure you know where to go and aim to arrive 30 minutes before the exam starts. Doors will close 5 minutes before the scheduled start time of the exam. Preparation steps:

Read the guide: Thoroughly read the UoB Digital Exams guide.
Password ready: Ensure you can log into your University of Bedfordshire email. You will need your Student ID number, full UoB email address, and password. If you have any issues, contact SiD at sid@beds.ac.uk or call 0300 300 0042.
Check Your Email: Regularly check your University of Bedfordshire email for updates from WISEflow.
Log in: Make sure you have logged into WISEflow before the exam day to ensure you have access to the system.
Take a Practice Exam: Complete the practice exam sent to your email about two weeks before your real exam. This will help you understand the process and ensure you can log into WISEflow.
Review Your Timetable: Check the examination timetable and note your exam dates and times. Keep an eye out for any changes.
Test Your Equipment: Make sure your device can access WISEflow. Use the latest versions of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Note that Chromebooks are not supported.
Learning Support: If you need a Learning and Teaching Support Agreement, contact the learning support team at least six weeks before your exam.
Contact Exams Team: For any issues, email exams@beds.ac.uk. This is also the contact for any problems during your exam.

On exam day

Know Your Login Details: Ensure you know your University of Bedfordshire email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your login details, contact sid@beds.ac.uk or call 0300 300 0042 to reset your account before your exam.
Log into WISEflow: Verify that you can log into the UoB digital exams platform enabled by WISEflow.
Eat Well: Have a healthy meal before your exam to stay alert and focused. For suggestions on good pre-exam foods, check out Healthline
On-Campus Exams: Arrive 30 minutes before the exam begins. Exam doors will close 5 minutes before the start time, and late entry is not permitted. Review the exam regulations beforehand to know what you can bring. Listen carefully to the invigilator’s instructions.
Remote Exams: Choose a quiet, interruption-free area for your exam. Ensure your laptop or PC is fully charged.
Contact for Issues: If you encounter any problems during your exam, contact the exams team immediately at exams@beds.ac.uk during the exam. The exam team will be unable to assist after the exam has ended.
Submit Your Work: Submit your exam through WISEflow before the end of the examination period. An additional 30 minutes is provided for technical issues. If you do not submit your exam on time, it cannot be marked.
Request a Digital Receipt: After submitting your exam, you can request a digital receipt by clicking the receipt button beneath the “submitted” text on WISEflow. For on-campus exams, staff will explain this at the start of your session.

After the exam

We are thrilled to congratulate you on finishing your exams. Once you are certain you have no further exams to take, you are free to enjoy your time and take some well-earned rest.

Exam Marking and Results

Your exams will be marked by your tutors. Detailed information about how and when you will receive your results, as well as how to access your feedback, can be found in your course handbook. If you have any questions regarding the marking process, please contact your unit tutor directly.
