Students at the Bedford campus, under the guidance and mentorship of Dr Tamara Ashley, Senior Lecturer for Dance Performance and qualified senior yoga instructor, offered what involved a session of relaxing, healing, and bodywork informed by our understandings of creating sustainable wellness through movement practice, conscious food choices and building community.

Our yoga 'teacher-trainer' students offered optional massage during a deep restorative yoga practice designed to induce deep states of ease, peace and relaxation. The class included a soundscape of healing frequencies that have been shown to enhance the states of rest and ease. The class consisted of simple postures supported by props and is accessible to all.

The six attendees described the experience as a “beautifully relaxing event” and were impressed with the student’s technical and social skills in creating such a calm environment in which to unwind. This session was the culmination of a project that was part of the University’s collaborations with the SOS-UK and the British Academy Student Sustainability Leadership initiative.
