The university was selected to collaborate with the British Academy and SOS-UK in a national sustainability student leadership initiative.

Having been selected as one of six from amongst other university applicants to participate in a student sustainability leadership project, the University has created another opportunity for students to gain leadership experience in creating campus and local solutions, working with students in other disciplines, to address social, environmental or economic challenges.

Three projects are underway, led by academics Dr Tamara Ashley, Vicky Morris and (the late) Dr Markus Haag. These have involved 15 students receiving training and development opportunities from SOS-UK and developing, demonstrating transferable professional and academic competencies and identifying how their discipline can drive sustainability solutions.

Students will be presenting their projects at a national conference in Birmingham on 27-28th June 2024. They will earn an industry-recognized, SOS-issued digital badge to show their participation, as well as a Gold 'Beds Careers Development Award'.

For more information, please reach out to Dr Diana Pritchard at Diana.Pritchard@beds.ac.uk or any of the academics mentioned.
