Environmental Performance Targets 2022-26:
- Bio-Diversity
Maintaining and enhancing 2,000 m2 (combined) of wildflower meadow on university campus green spaces, increasing this area to 2,500m2 by 2025/26. - Community Engagement
By 2025/26, organise - together with distinct organisations from the community and from public and private sectors - 5 events and activities relating to sustainability at the University which are open to, and attended by, their representatives and members of the public - Emissions and Discharges
By 2025/26 as far as practicable replace as many gas heating and hot water boilers with either Green Hydrogen Blended Fuel or Heat Pumps. - Energy and Carbon Management
To achieve the targets set using the Science Based Target Initiative tool, Scope 1 & 2 and Scope 3 emissions must be reduced by 29.4% by 2025 and achieve Net Zero by 2050. - Sustainable Construction and Buildings
All new building will continue achieve a Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM), level of excellent as an absolute minimum. - Sustainable Procurement
Reduce 25% of carbon emissions from supply chain network by 2025/26 against 2021/22 Scope 3 Category Spend baseline. - Sustainable Travel
Increasing staff & student use of sustainable transport by 15% by 2025/26 - Water Resources
Achieve a relative water usage target of <3m3 per head of FTE Staff & Student by 2025/26 against 2021/22 HESA Estates Management Report (EMR) baseline. - Waste Management
Increase internal recycling rates from 45% to 60% by 2025 against a 2021/22 baseline
