Fraud and Scams
Fraud is one of the most common types of crime and it can affect everyone.
Fraud or a ‘scam’ is when someone is targeted by a dishonest individual, group, or company in an attempt to obtain information, money or something else of value.
Scammers are now using new and sophisticated methods to try and take personal information, including techniques to impersonate and use stolen data or personal details, to make someone believe that what they say is genuine.
Scams can appear in several different guises. It may come through your email inbox (“phishing”) or by phone, social media or in the post.
