By collecting the laptop and charger you agree to the following terms and conditions.

You agree to:

• Use the equipment in accordance with the University’s IT Conditions of Use (as per your Registration agreement).
• Use the equipment for personal, academic purposes only, to facilitate study and research.
• Accept FULL RESPONSIBILITY for any loss or damage to the equipment caused by your negligence or improper use. "Improper use" includes using the equipment other than in accordance with the manufacturer's and/or the University's instructions, using the equipment for a purpose other than intended or allowing the equipment out of your control and custody and failing to protect it from loss or damage.
• Return the equipment after 3 months, or at the end of your current academic year, or at the end of your course - whichever comes first.
• Return all loaned equipment back to one of the University of Bedfordshire’s libraries (Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes or Aylesbury) at the end of your loan.

You agree not to:

• Take the equipment outside of the UK.
• Attempt to install your own software on the equipment.

Further information

• If this laptop becomes overdue your library account may be frozen.
• If the equipment is damaged as a result of your negligence or improper use you will be liable for the cost of repair or replacement.
• If you do not return the laptop, you will be liable for the cost of replacement and may be referred to the University’s debt collection agency. The cost of replacement is £700. The breakdown of the cost is £628 including VAT and an admin charge of £71.20.
• Once the laptop is returned all files on the hard drive will be deleted and cannot be recovered.
• All equipment remains the property of University of Bedfordshire.
• When you collect the laptop you are advised to log onto the device before leaving the library.

Additional laptop loans

• You may apply for an additional period of loan by making another application to Student Money before the end of your current loan period. Renewals are not automatic and will be dependent there being no waiting list for laptop loans.
• If an additional loan is approved you will need to bring the equipment to campus at the end of the current loan period so staff can manually renew the loan.
