What to do if I think I have Dyslexia
Have you questioned if you have dyslexia but not explored a diagnosis before starting university?
If you do not have a Diagnostic Assessment Report from an appropriately qualified professional, we can provide you with screening for dyslexia and, where needed, arrange for you to have a diagnostic assessment.
The screening service is for registered students only.
Diagnostic Assessments will usually not be offered to students in the last 6 months of their course.
If you think you may have dyslexia follow these simple steps:
-
Email disability@beds.ac.uk to request a screening form
-
Complete the form by hand then scan and send a copy to disability@beds.ac.uk
An advisor will make contact about next steps which may include further screening or a Diagnostic Assessment.
Explaining your results
If the Diagnostic Assessment confirms dyslexia I can register with the Health & Wellbeing Team and apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance, if eligible.
If dyslexia is not indicated, the advisor will discuss alternative support.
