Care Leavers Pre 2015 Entry
Care Leavers - Support and Funding
The Care Leavers Bursary is available to all students under 25 who are currently open to and supported by a local authority leaving care service and fulfil the criteria stated in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000; who are studying on a degree programme and paying £9,000 tuition fees.
While there are no restrictions on the nationality of applicants they must be normally resident in the UK.
The University of Bedfordshire is strongly committed to helping you develop the skills and knowledge you will need to be successful during your course and after graduation.
We work hard to ensure that our support services are as accessible as possible for all students but we also understand you may not want or need any additional support.
As part of the University's promise to you, your privacy and anonymity will be assured at all times.
As a care leaver, you are entitled to the following benefits
- Clear information about support services, both through the University website, handbooks and the student support centres at the Bedford and Luton campuses.
- You will receive £1,000 Care Leavers Bursary in your second and third year.
Year 2 | Cash | Year 3 | Cash |
---|---|---|---|
February | £500 | February | £500 |
April | £500 | April | £500 |

- As well as giving you the first taste of independence, the University will make provision for all year round accommodation (in our halls of residence) over the full life of your course.
