Most of our teams compete under the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) banner. This means not only are they governed by each individual governing body, but all teams must also adhere to the BUCS rules and regulations.
In 2019, BUCS introduced a system to record fixtures, results, teams, and many other things. BUCS Play is the new home of university sports, an app for all your fixtures and results, and the gateway for entering BUCS events.
What does that mean for you?
Any student who wishes to represent their University must have a BUCS Play account and then become a member of their chosen sport 'community'. Without this, you simply cannot be picked on a team sheet or put into an event.
Just follow these steps to join the world of BUCS Play:
- Download the BUCS Play app from your app store
- Create an account using your student email address (if you do not yet have one, just sign up with your private email. You will need your student email to join a team though)
- Find the 'community' you wish to join
- Wait to be accepted by the Competitive Sports Officer
For those students who compete in a competition-based sport, you will only need to sign up once the event opens. Your Captain will let you know when this happens.
Don't forget, that you will still need to pay for a sports membership to be accepted into a community.
