Brewster Square, our brand-new simulation floor situated in our modern STEM building in Luton, takes students across a number of disciplines from a mock home to hospital, giving hands-on experience of a range of scenarios they will encounter in the real world.

Our new and improved simulation suites situated on the top floor of the Gateway building at our Bedford campus offer students across a number of our courses practical hands-on experience of a range of scenarios in a variety of both clinical and community settings.

Our Aylesbury campus is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital so your studies and practical training are in one place with courses built around real-life work experience at the hospital. The campus offers modern study facilities include a simulated hospital ward with cutting-edge AV technology and medical mannequins and a dedicated library.

Student training in a simulation ward

Our simulation ‘wards’ across our three campuses, with medical-grade mannequins – including a newborn baby - allow our Nursing and Midwifery students to tackle real-life scenarios in a safe and supported environment.

community living simulation suite

Our Occupational Therapy students at our Luton campus benefit from a simulation suite containing a bedroom, bathroom and living area plus a moving and handling room. Students at our Bedford campus also have access to a ‘community living simulation suite’ containing a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living area, and children’s bedroom

Reviewing footage in a debrief suite

Students at our Luton and Bedford campuses on a range of courses benefit from our debrief suites. Utilising the cameras in any of our simulation suites, students are able use these debrief rooms to review their footage from a previous session to gain instant feedback to see where they can improve in their learning.

Mock operating theatre

We have a state-of-the-art mock operating theatre with anaesthetic equipment and a recovery room so Operating Department Practitioner students can practise their skills in ‘real world’ situations at our Luton Campus.

Custody suite

Students within the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences have access to our Custody suite and interview room used by allied professions such as Professional Policing.

Physiotherapy students in the physio suite

Physiotherapy students benefit from our simulation suites and a dedicated physio suite at our Luton Campus.

Three students in one of the Immersive Suites

Our state-of-the-art Immersive Suites at our Luton and Bedford campuses offer students an all-round experience utilising projected images or video to immerse them within a simulated space (e.g. a hospital ward, busy street, train station, etc.) The room is also touch enabled, allowing the students to interact with their environment or to complete quizzes and other activities.

Paramedic students practicing in a simbulance

At our Bedford campus Paramedic Science students have access to two clinical-training ambulances (simbulances) so they can develop their skills in realistic scenarios and get used to the equipment inside an ambulance before heading out on placement.

The urban simulation area in Bedford

At Bedford, there is also a real-life urban simulation area comprising of an assisted living space; industrial space with scaffolding; hoarder’s room; nightclub area; social deprivation room; a standard lounge and cluttered bedroom; and space imitating a car park, providing a range of realistic scenarios for our Paramedic Science students to develop their skills.
