Terms and Conditions

By entering this competition, the students, their parents and guardians, agree to these terms and conditions: 

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to children currently enrolled between school years three to nine.
  • Use of AI will be detected and will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Entries must be submitted under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or teacher.

Entry Requirements

  • Submissions must be the original work of the student.
  • The length of entries must be between 100 and 250 words, or maximum 15 lines for a poem.
  • All entries must be written in English.
  • Entries must be typed or can be neatly handwritten, if you wish to send us an image of your submission.
  • Each entry must include the student’s name, age, school year, and contact information (email address or phone number of a parent/guardian, for the winner to be contacted).

Submission

  • All entries must be submitted via the submission page by attaching the entry as a file, by the deadline of [submission deadline].
  • Late entries will not be accepted.
  • By submitting an entry, participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

Judging

  • Entries will be judged on creativity and originality.
  • The competition will be judged by the poet, comedian, musician and songwriter, John Hegley, who will choose the winner, and the decision is final. 

Prizes

  • Prizes will be awarded in two category of year groups: Years 3-6 & Years 7-9.
  • There will be one winner for each category who will receive a £100 Amazon gift voucher.
  • Winners will also receive certificates.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.

Right of usage

  • By entering the competition, participants grant permission for the organisers to publish their entries in print, online, and in any future promotional material.
  • Authors will retain the copyright of their entries.

Privacy

  • Any personal information provided will be used solely for the purposes of the competition and will not be shared with any third parties.
  • Contact information will only be used to communicate with participants and their guardians regarding the outcome of the competition.

We reserve the right disqualify submissions that do not comply with these terms and conditions, and we reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
