Situating Digital Poetry: Innovative Poetics and Digital Practices
The second half of the twentieth-century saw the emergence of digital poetry as poets from across the globe engaged for the first time with computers in their practice.
This period also witnessed a continuing tradition of other innovative poetic practices; with many different poets working with print, live performance, audio and video etc. in a creative manner.
This research project will explore the relationship between these important poetic developments. It will also aim to provide an engagement with some of the many aesthetic interests explored by these traditions in a work of digital poetry.
This research project will build on the established interest in innovative poetics and digital writing situated within RIMAP.
The methodology to be used in this research will draw on the traditions of practice-led research in creative writing.
The expected outcome is an original body of work that explores the relationships between innovative and digital poetic practices.
It is expected that the student will also provide a contextual document in support of this original body of work.
Applicants are advised that there is no bursary attached to this studentship, and fees are payable.
