Cross-media storytelling: convergence in the new media
The project will examine the anatomy of cross-media products and how publishing culture is changing in the wake of these new products.
Cross-media link across devices and through media forms, examples include branded entertainment, film segments delivered to mobiles, alternate reality games, TV shows which bridge to a URL.
The researcher will examine one or more aspects.
The project may also include research on the audience for cross-media products, who benefits financially from them, whether authors can exert control over the marketing and merchandising of their work and how companies/authors market/syndicate their rights in book publication, film production, game manufacture, adaptation and merchandising.
