Human factors theory
The study of human factors theory focuses on human performance and interaction with equipment, systems and processes within the organisation with the goal of enhancing performance, increasing safety and improving user satisfaction (Milligan, 2007). Human factors theory is, therefore, good for staff.
By providing a positive working environment, the right equipment, policies and organisation processes for staff they will work more efficiently and safely. Human factors theory is then central to patient safety as it helps to create a positive safety culture which is beneficial to patients/clients.
