I have vivid memories of the day I left Nigeria, bidding farewell to my closely knit family and everything familiar, embarking on a journey to study law at the University of Bedfordshire. No amount of preparation could have fully equipped me for the major changes I was about to face. While I had visited the UK on holiday before, this time was different as I was entering a new education system in a new country. It was a significant and exciting time in my life. 

The transition to university life as an international student in the UK was a huge experience in my life. Even now I can have difficult days, which I understand is completely normal. It can feel scary at first, but getting out of your comfort zone and being proactive in meeting and talking with others has helped my journey. Regardless of where you are, university is an environment that presents its own unique challenges.

The University offers a variety of resources for students to ensure they are supported throughout their studies. One valuable support system that has helped me with my studies is the library services. The library provides access to an extensive collection of books, journals, databases, and even past examination papers. As well as this, whenever I have encountered computer problems, the laptop loan service proved to be extremely helpful.

Throughout my journey, I have learnt the importance of seeking support when needed, whether from lecturers, classmates, or support services provided by the University. I am determined to make the most of the opportunities that come my way, knowing that each hurdle I overcome contributes to my personal and academic growth. 

I appreciate that university is not solely about academic knowledge but also about personal development to prepare for the future. The University has played a pivotal role in providing me with opportunities to develop the necessary skills for my future career. During my time here, I have worked as a Student Ambassador which helped me to develop my skills and network across different campuses.

My one piece of advice to anyone reading this is to make the most of every opportunity you get at university. You can learn so much, even when you are not expecting it which is invaluable in the real world.
