Cleo Morris came to visit campus for an Open Day after securing her offer through Clearing and says the state-of-the-art facilities were a huge factor in deciding to start her studies with the School of Sport Science & Physical Activity

I am studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bedfordshire and I came to choosing this course due to an interest in sports and science. The course layout and facilities at the University were also a selling point to join the course.

On results day, I had to go through UCAS and the Clearing process, which matched me to a few universities and I also did my own research directly through university websites. I then called up the Clearing hotline of each university of interest, finding any opportunities such as open days or tours. And eventually I came to the University of Bedfordshire for a visit and decided to accept the offer after seeing the facilities and campus.

The support from staff, both teaching and non-teaching, as well as the community feel expressed at cultural events. Being a student at the University and having access to these benefits.

I hope to pursue a career in Sports Science.

As part of my course, I have the opportunity to complete a placement year. Besides this, they also provide opportunities with local sports teams to use and demonstrate knowledge from the classroom in the field. During the course there are also modules which specifically look at employability and careers within sport. There is also support from the University’s Careers and Employability Service which offers support with job applications.

Since joining the University and living away from home, I have grown as an individual academically through the challenging new content learned within my course. In terms of independence and confidence, I have grown a huge amount.

To think carefully about what you are interested in and what you would like to do, in terms of the university look at the pros and cons of each one that offers the course you are interested in (distance from home, future prospects, assignment weighting, etc.).
