The MA Art & Design showcase – ‘Manifest’ – is open in the Alexon Building located in the Heart of Luton’s cultural quarter every day until Friday. Among the work, created by students from the School of Arts & Creative Industries, visitors can find imaginative fashion designs and original pieces of photography and other artwork.

One of the pieces on display at the ‘Manifest’ showcase is an experimental collection of knitwear exploring the strength of women; an application designed to help simplify the recycling process; and a series of paintings driven by auto-ethnographic research.

Andrae Needham, an MA Art & Design student, spoke about displaying their work: "Having a public exhibition of my work gave me an immense sense of pride and accomplishment. Irrespective of the feedback, just knowing that I had the opportunity to showcase my ability and connect with the public was something I'll cherish forever.”

This exciting showcase follows the undergraduate and Masters students’ Degree Shows earlier this year which saw visitors enjoying a visual treat including roaming Fashion and Make-Up models, short film and animation screenings, and live Acting performances.

Dr Sue Withers, who has taught the MA students, added: "Showing their work in public is a regular feature of the course, although the interim displays emphasise the exhibition as a site of research with as much relevance to creative practice as the studio. This show is the culmination of their MA journey, so a chance to showcase the extent of their research and an opportunity to celebrate their achievements.”

The ‘Manifest’ exhibition is open to the public from 9am – 5pm every day until 6^th October within the Alexon Building, Guildford Street Luton.
