Bedfordshire announces University of Law partnership
Mon 13 September, 2021The University of Bedfordshire has announced a partnership with the University of Law in London which will aid students pursuing a career at the bar.
Through the partnership – which is set to be celebrated by a Virtual Launch Event in September – Law LLB students at Bedfordshire will be guaranteed places at market-leading legal educators, the University of Law (ULaw) if they meet entry requirements.
ULaw’s Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) programmes are natural next steps for students completing their LLB with Bedfordshire’s Business School and essential for any aspiring solicitor. ULaw will also provide support in the form of workshops to all Bedfordshire students, guiding them through assessments and helping them choose between the LPC (available for Bedfordshire students enrolling on the LLB before 21st September 2021) and the SQE.
Applications to ULaw courses will be streamlined for Bedfordshire students, with those qualifying for a place also receiving a £250 fee reduction and additional scholarship opportunities.
Additionally, bespoke networking opportunities and employability events including interview advice will be offered to Bedfordshire students as part of the partnership.
Chris Dixon, Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Bedfordshire’s Business School, commented:
“This exciting new Partnership Agreement between the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Law is of fantastic benefit to our current and new LLB Law students.
“This is an exceptional opportunity for our LLB students to benefit from market leaders in the field of professional legal education and represents another example of the Department of Law’s commitment to helping our Law students to be the best that they can be.”
Sandie Gaines, Campus Dean at the University of Law, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Bedfordshire. We look forward to guiding students through the SQE and supporting them to achieve their career goals.”
Chris Marshall, Executive Dean of Bedfordshire’s Business School, added: “The priority for our Faculty is the creation of opportunities for high quality professional employment for our graduates. This venture with the University of Law provides this pathway for students and emphasises the importance of partnerships in Higher Education between recognised high-quality HE institutions, combining our skillsets. We celebrate this development and commend the academic teams from the University of Bedfordshire’s Law team and our new partners at the ULaw who made this possible.”
