A Summer School initiative is returning to the University of Bedfordshire this month, covering a wide range of subject areas for students in years 11, 12 and 13 to explore.

The Summer Schools are free and take place online on Monday 12thand Tuesday 13th July 2021. Organised by the University’s Access and Outreach Team, they will be delivered virtually to give as many prospective students as possible the opportunity to find out more about their favourite subjects at higher education level.

Academic sessions in the form of interactive seminars will give the students a chance to gain an insight into what it would be like to study their favourite subject at university, while there will also be UCAS application advice and Student Finance support on offer.

Additionally, it will help the potential future university students to understand the transition to higher education and more aspects of university life through meeting Student Ambassadors from the University.

Originally, participants were invited to take part in fun social activities organised by Beds SU but, unfortunately, Covid-19 restrictions have caused this element to be cancelled. However, those attending the virtual Summer Schools will be sent out a complimentary goodie bag.

On the return of the University’s Summer Schools Roisin Kendall, Access & Outreach Partnership Manager, commented:

"The online summer schools are a great opportunity for post-16 students to find out about their next step to university.

“We have a great offer with four online Summer Schools with live academic sessions, quizzes and interactive features allowing students to get a taster of university life."

Each 'school' has an unlimited number of places. To register attendance, pupils can click on the link to their preferred subject area and complete the online form.
