The notorious hacker ‘The Red Devil’ has been caught by authorities, but threatens to release a computer virus to destroy the internet if he is not released straight away. Can you help to save the internet?

To mark A-Level results day and the start of Clearing, the University of Bedfordshire is offering students the chance to take part in a free forensic science-themed escape room and #EscapetoBeds.

On Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 August from 10am to 3pm in The Mall, Luton, teams of students will be up against the clock finding fingerprints, footprints, chemical analysis and crime scene evidence to prevent a notorious hacker from destroying the internet.

Forensic Science is just one of the courses that will be taught in Bedfordshire’s new STEM building, which opens to students in September, and will provide over 6000m2 of new teaching space, focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects, including Pharmaceutical and Chemical ScienceNutritionBiochemistry, and Mechanical Engineering.

David Seaton, Assistant Director Recruitment and Admissions, University of Bedfordshire, said: “If you’re waiting for your A-Level results and are thinking about coming to University then come along and take part in our escape room.

“Once you’ve taken part, it is well worth visiting the University to get a feel for student life. Here we lay on campus tours each day around A-Level results day. They are run by current students which means you’ll get the chance ask questions about university life from someone who’s going through it. We can also arrange a meeting with your course tutor so you can chat through workload, course modules and any other questions you might have.”

If you would like to take part in the escape room, you can either book your place online by visiting Escape to Beds, or head on down to The Mall in Luton town centre.

The University’s Clearing hotline number is 0300 3300 073 and the dedicated Clearing website. This year for the first time, you can apply for a place online at a time and place that suits them. We’ll also be answering questions and making offers through social media. The Live Chat team will also be available to answer any questions about the courses available, studying at the University and university life in general.
