Luton Sixth Form College students take over Radio LaB
Wed 04 July, 2018Aspiring DJs from Luton Sixth Form College have taken over the airwaves of the University of Bedfordshire’s community radio station, Radio LaB.
Students from the BTEC Radio Production course at the College have prepared and presented their own shows over the course of two weeks, featuring a range of music, features and chat – all broadcast live.
Radio LaB Coordinator Terry Lee said: “I love listening to the enthusiasm and talent on offer when the Luton Sixth Form College Takeover comes to our station. I’m pleased that Radio LaB can offer these young people a Luton-wide platform to be heard – the students are a real credit to the College and their tutors.”

Luton Sixth Form College radio teacher Andy Waterfield said: “I’m so pleased we’ve been welcomed back to Radio LaB and the University. This really is a highlight of the year, allowing students on the successful BTEC Radio course to make their learning a reality. They always love the fortnight and leave with amazing new experiences and confidence. The chance to work on air, live, is invaluable.”
