Welcome 2015
Wed 30 September, 2015A carnival is just one of the themed days lined up to welcome new students to the University of Bedfordshire this week.
Kicking off ‘Welcome 2015’, the carnival will give over 2,000 Freshers the opportunity to socialise in their early days at the university.
Selfie booths and surf simulators will be on offer at the carnivals held at the Bedford and Luton campuses, as well as more traditional offerings like coconut shies and candyfloss.
The carnival will then be followed by International Day; Wellbeing and Sports Day where students can tour the new Aspire gyms and have a go at the Football Challenge. There is also an Employability Day which has advice on developing skills, part-time jobs and writing CVs as well as the traditional Freshers’ Fair where students can sign up for a range of societies.
Rumnique Gill, Director for Student Experience at the University said:
“ ‘Welcome 2015’ aims to encourage students to embrace their time here, get involved, and socialise in their first few days and weeks.
“The range of events on offer showcase what is available as part of the student experience outside of the academic part of university life and gives students an opportunity to get to know their peers in various social settings.”
Non-themed offerings are also available with eclectic student tastes catered for with everything from movie nights to stand-up comedy and even a boat trip.
The Students’ Union are also welcoming new students to the University with Fresh Beds 15 offering a whole range of student nights out. More information can be found at www.bedssu.co.uk
