Bedfordshire adds seven new postgraduate teacher training courses
Mon 09 November, 2015Students interested in a career in teaching can now choose from a wider range of Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) subjects at the University of Bedfordshire.
With the University adding seven new PGCE courses to its expanding portfolio, budding teachers now have a choice of 17 different subject areas, ranging from Geography, to Physics, to Art and Design.
Juliet Fern, Head of Department of Teacher Education, said:
“We are delighted that our bid to the National College for Teaching & Leadership (NCTL) was accepted.
“The new courses broaden our portfolio, ensuring our own university graduates, as well as graduates from other universities, have excellent opportunities for progression into teaching careers.”
The full offering for 2016/17 places can be seen below, with the seven new courses listed in bold:

- Physical Education
- Primary
- Primary PE
- Modern Languages
- Social Sciences
- Religious Education
- Geography
- Design and Technology
- Music
- Drama
- Art and Design
Changes to the PGCE application system, which is open now, mean places will be filled as soon as a national recruitment limit has been reached.
Students interested in a career in teaching are encouraged to apply as soon as possible via the UCAS Teacher Training portal. English, Physical Education and Primary are particularly likely to close early.
Those applying must have a degree with at least a 50% match in subject area.
