Following on from his sister Chloe, who starred in the cult comedy series – Red Dwarf, holding a Media Performance Masterclass at the University in February, Jamie ran a session for first and second year Media Performance students at the Luton campus

Held in the University’s state-of-the-art TV Studio, Jamie observed pairs of students acting out a scene to camera throughout the day.

Jamie said: “The students need to gain experience of being in front of the camera and they need to be free with their performance. Cameras are being used more and more for auditions and casting and not only to record productions. This demonstrates the importance to students of honing these performance skills.”

He added: “The facilities and the high standard of teaching here at the University of Bedfordshire is particularly impressive. The students have produced some stunning work and have been extremely enthusiastic.”

With the Media Performance Masterclasses series continuing to attract a host of industry professionals, experienced actress Nila Allia, who has appeared in TV productions including BBC’s Spooks and Casualty, conducts the next session later this month.

Dr Maria Wiener, Course Coordinator for the Pg Cert Performing before the Camera Course at Bedfordshire, concluded: “Not many institutions offer courses like this that are focused on performing in front of the camera. We have wonderful facilities and good contacts within the industry.

“We are very lucky to have someone of Jamie’s calibre here at Bedfordshire.”
