Alumna welcomes Lord-Lieutenant
Fri 21 March, 2014UNIVERSITY of Bedfordshire graduate, Poet Laureate of Luton Mary Emeji is to welcome Lord-Lieutenant for Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, to Luton Poetry Society on Saturday, 29 March.
Mary said: “I’m delighted that Helen will be joining us at our next event. I first met her at one of my engagements at Luton Town Hall and she is such a special lady and a lover of poetry too!”
March’s event, at Luton Central Library’s Conference Room from 2 pm to 4pm, will consist of poetry recitals and classical music performance on the theme ‘colours’.

Mary, a double law graduate with LLB (Hons) and LLM Commercial Law from the University has been Poet Laureate of Luton since December 2012.
As Poet Laureate she hosts monthly Poetry Society events in the town and visits libraries and local schools to promote and encourage poetry.
