That’s the message from a new book written by University of Bedfordshire business expert, Professor of Entrepreneurship Paul Burns, who claims his unique seven-step framework will enable budding entrepreneurs to develop a thriving business.

New Venture Creation takes readers step-by-step through the processes of generating an idea, developing a business model and making money.

The guide combines academic theory with examples from real life – in both a hard copy text book, and through interactive videos and software – providing readers an understandable system for starting their own company, and how to make it fruitful.

Professor Burns, who has previously written over two dozen successful textbooks on entrepreneurship and currently passes on his 40 years’ worth of knowledge to students at Bedfordshire Business School, believes that the key to teaching entrepreneurship is ‘learning by doing’, and the new framework he has developed will enable students to do just that in a systematic way.

“Undoubtedly being successful in business can be taught”, said Professor Burns, a chartered accountant, who was formerly the Director of the 3i European Enterprise Research Centre.

“With this framework, we have broken down the components of entrepreneurship in a way that anybody can follow,” he added.

“By taking part in the exercises in New Venture Creation, readers will go through these components step by step.”
