Live TV show put on by students
Wed 17 December, 2014Final-year University of Bedfordshire Television Production students used the wealth of their three years at the institution to put on a live show in front of a real studio audience.
Transmitted live online, Alternative Live was a show dedicated to showcasing talent locally and around the University.
The 18 minute programme featured clips of skateboarders and the Beds Bulls’ ultimate Frisbee side in action, while two talented singer/song writers, Ryan Prazer and Chris Cant came into the University’s real-life TV Studio to perform acoustically.
The show was fully created by the Television Production students beginning at the writing stage and finishing with the final production. It was a collaborative event, presented by third year Media Performance students, and sound engineered by Music Technology students.
Course Leader for Television Production Kathryn Wolfe said: “Starting with a blank piece of paper the students wrote the highly entertaining script, conducted a rigorous casting process to find the right contestants and presenters, designed the set, and produced the pre-show, live show and post-show elements.
“It is exactly where third year students should be at the moment, taking risks and forming one large production team. This is the beginning of regular broadcasting from The TV LaB and we are incredibly proud of the students’ achievements so far.”
