Working with Numbers - Descriptive Statistics
Lecture 7 is an introduction to levels of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio), frequency, proportion, percentage, measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) and range.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Identify and define levels of measurement and measures of central tendency;
- Describe situations in which different levels of measurement and measures of central tendency are useful and appropriate; and
- Calculate frequency, percentage, range, measures of central tendency and be able to critique and justify their use for the exercise problems.
You will need a calculator to carry out some of the statistical measures.
