Latest Trends in Digital Marketing event review

On 26 November 2020, I and other members of The Marketing Club attended an online CIM workshop with an award-winning author and speaker Daniel Rowles, CEO of TargetInternet.com and Founding Director of the Digital Leadership Programme, who guided us through the latest trends in digital marketing.

Mr Daniel Rowles has amazingly explained the details about social media tools and trends, how to target the right audience, about Google search results, people’s behaviour and searching for business opportunities.

Getting the knowledge about Google Ads settings, trends and analytics, I came to know that it's easy to track events through Google Analytics new advanced features. It’s a good time to learn analytics because people with data analytics knowledge have great career opportunities. As brand managers, we also need to make sure that we are very clear of what data we are collecting to avoid infobesity.

It was mentioned in the session that during this pandemic state trampoline sales business was a huge success because people quarantined in their homes and they had more time to spend with their families. We could also see the change in podcast growth. The stats show that nowadays people listen to the podcasts mostly while travelling, relaxing, working/studying or doing household chores. This proves that as marketers we should search for all the possible opportunities in different situations so we can mould our business ideas and marketing campaigns according to these trends, and we should know how to target our audiences.

Going through the digital marketing toolkit [PDF] which was created and shared by Mr Rowles, I found it very useful as it has all the old and new tools of digital marketing. I agree with Daniel that the tools change, some disappear, and the new ones appear, so putting all the tools together is beneficial for all the marketers and those who are discovering the new world of business.

I am grateful that CIM gave us the chance to attend this informative session about digital marketing. It was indeed an interesting and enlightening event which has brought a lot of new things to my knowledge. I am hopeful that in the future I will be learning more about the new changes in the digital market.
