The University of Bedfordshire and Luton Town Football Club are pleased to announce a new expansion of their longstanding partnership which will see the University become the official education partner of the Club.

The new agreement, which will bring a range of educational and career development opportunities for students, builds on the existing relationship between the two institutions, which began more than a decade ago.

The partnership between the University and the Club will offer excellent career development opportunities and work experience for students studying on sports-related courses such as Sport & Exercise Science and Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation, as well as other course areas including Business and Sports Journalism. These will include field trips to Luton Town FC’s training ground, and home match tickets for students from a select group of relevant courses such as BSc Football Coaching, which will allow them an insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of a Premier League football club.

Offical Education Partner

LTFC and the University will work collaboratively to provide student experience through attendance of matches and potential workplace opportunities.

  • Students studying selected course such as Football Coaching at the University will have free opportunities to attend games
  • Students will receive 10% discount on LTFC merchandise at LTFC shop on presentation of ID Card
  • The launch of a unique new MBA in Business Administration (Sport Leadership and Management), delivered in collaboration between the School of Sport Science & Physical Activity and the University of Bedfordshire Business School, which will see further opportunities for students to get involved with the Club and develop valuable industry experience

The University works with schools, colleges and community groups across Bedfordshire. As the Official education Partner with LTFC, the University will be able to share the benefits of our partnership with our education networks across Bedfordshire.

We’ll have extensive presence on match days including signage on the stands, pitch side digital advertising, programme advertising, and some presence on interview backdrops.

Our students working for Luton Town FC

A PhD student at the University of Bedfordshire is celebrating a successful season working with Luton Town Football Club, which has seen the club promoted to the Premier League for the first time in its history.

Jake Scott, who is studying in his final year of his PhD with the School of Sport Science and Physical Activity (SSPA), works part-time as a Sports Science Assistant at the club.

Jake’s expertise was required on the day of Luton’s Championship Play-Off final, which saw temperatures soaring higher than average for the time of year. This meant the Sports Science team needed to ensure the players were as prepared as possible for environment they were going to face, including implementing a number of cooling techniques and strategies.
