Dr Leonidas Tzampazis

EAP Lecturer

Leonidas Tzampazis

I am an EAP Lecturer and currently an English Tutor and course unit coordinator at the University of Bedfordshire. Part of my role is to prepare and support foundation students with the language, and gain all the skills required to move to their undergraduate courses. I also teach, pre-sessional courses and Enhanced English skills to undergraduate students.

Teaching on that level, and having moved from an FE college where I was the ESOL team lead for 10 years, enables me to focus on my real passion which is researching motivation and language learning as there is a common belief that motivation plays a vital role in language learning and learners achievement in general. I have just currently completed my PhD on motivation and language learning and this is an extension of my MA dissertation on motivation and L2. Also, extensive knowledge on English grammar and syntax is what I consider as my additional strengths. In addition to that, I am not afraid to explore and broaden other areas of expertise when needed.

My experience working in varied classrooms environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills. I am able to manage challenging behaviour effectively when necessary, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Most importantly, my ability to work well with others, motivate and inspire is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the department of Registry and into the classroom.
