Evaluation of the Luton-based Total Wellbeing programme: An integrated care pathway for physical and mental health
Abstract
The National Health System (NHS) faces some key challenges such as growing population, an increaseof the ageingpopulation, public expectations and rising costs. One of the key solutions is to promote proactive health behaviour, move patient care and support out of hospitals and into clinics in GP surgeries and in the community
Total Wellbeing is a proactive programme which supports people living in Luton who want to improve their physical and emotional health. The programme is based on evidence based and Nice-approved approaches to accomplish behaviour change to service users. The intervention programme offers general advice, targeted and specialist support to individuals who desire to improve their wellbeing.
This thesis aims to conduct a multi-facetted evaluation of Total Wellbeing programme, which includes IAPT services and programmes that support health and wellbeing for people in Luton, with the view to providing new knowledge that can inform future practices in the intervention.
