Spotlight on Project: Shaping the Future of Nature-Based Physical Activity for Adolescents
Project team: Hannah Foladi (doctoral candidate), Dr Julia Zakrzewski-Fruer, Dr Joanne Hill, Professor Angel Chater
Join us in co-designing a physical activity in nature intervention!
Physical activity in nature provides incredible benefits for both young people’s health and the environment. However, as children transition into adolescence, their engagement with outdoor physical activity often declines. Schools, sports clubs, and community organisations are key to reversing this trend and ensuring long-lasting, impactful interventions.
We are launching an exciting research project to co-design an intervention that encourages more adolescents to engage in nature-based physical activity. To make sure our approach is practical, engaging, and sustainable, we are calling on key stakeholders such as schools, youth organisations, sports clubs, and professionals who work with young people in outdoor and physical activity settings to join us.
Why get involved?
- Be part of a pioneering project that promotes adolescent health and wellbeing.
- Contribute your expertise to shape an intervention that works in real-world settings.
- Engage in an exclusive online stakeholder workshop where we will share a sneak peek of our unpublished novel research on the influences and outcomes of physical activity in nature for adolescents.
- Take part in a roundtable discussion on the APEASE criteria (Acceptability, Practicability, Effectiveness, Affordability, Spillover effects, and Equity) from your perspective.
- Help co-develop innovative strategies using behaviour change frameworks.
Who we’re looking for
We are actively recruiting schools and stakeholders who are passionate about supporting adolescents in physical activity and outdoor experiences. Your insights and experience will be invaluable in ensuring this intervention is practical, acceptable, and effective.
Let’s work together!
