Nationals of a country who may use E-Gates to enter the UK
Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA, EU/EEA countries and Switzerland
If you are a national of one of these countries, you may use the e-gates at the airport to enter the UK. There is no longer a need for you to see a Border Force Officer when you enter the UK.
If you do use e-gates to enter the UK, your passport will not be stamped and there will be no record of the date you entered the UK. You should therefore keep evidence of your date of entry to the UK (your flight ticket and boarding pass).
Keep this evidence safe and remember you may need it in future. We encourage you to keep an electronic copy. We will ask to see the evidence when you present your visa as part of the registration process.
If you enter on a Student visa or Short-term study visa, you must make sure you do not enter the UK before the ‘valid from’ date on your vignette (visa in your passport).
If you enter before your visa start date, you will need to leave the UK and re-enter on or after the ‘valid from’ date on your vignette. You must also not try to enter the UK after the ‘valid until’ date.
