Diane Richardson
Principal Lecturer Business Systems and Teaching Fellow
Diane Richardson is Principal Lecturer in Project Management and has held senior management positions as head of department/division and in quality enhancement, also leading successful course validations and subject reviews, and chairing course approval panels. She is the Departmental Lead with professional bodies and has led successful applications for accreditation and re-accreditation from the Association of Project Management. She has undertaken external periodic review and approval panel member roles and has been external examiner for Masters courses (including MSc Project Management and MBAs).
She has over 30 years’ experience teaching and supporting learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Higher Education. She was awarded one of seven inaugural University Teacher Fellowships at De Montfort University in recognition of excellence in teaching and supporting student learning. She was De Montfort University’s nominee and University of Bedfordshire’s nominee for the National Teacher Fellow award in 2001 and 2007 respectively.
She brings great enthusiasm for innovation within the curriculum, to ensure an engaging learning experience for students, supporting employability. Diane uses her background and experience in Information Systems and Project Management to bring practical application of knowledge and theory into the classroom. In 2019, she nominated a group of her MBA students and they won the Association for Project Management (APM) Midlands Branch Student Group of the Year Award.
She is currently supervising five PhD students in Project Management, with research areas in Scope Management, Stakeholder Satisfaction, Quality Management, Project Management Tools and Techniques, and PRINCE2.
She has lead successfully Research Informed Teaching and Teaching and Learning Projects to inform curriculum design, content and assessment, and to develop peer assisted learning at post-graduate level.
