Senior Lecturer in Aviation Management

Lloyd started in the Air France commercial team as an attaché commercial, before management positions in Europe, India and the United States with Air New Zealand and Jet Airways. After executive roles at Kuwait Airways, Kuwait National Airways and Safi Airways, Lloyd became a Principal Consultant for IATA, working upon an array of different projects including; airline start-ups, airport operational readiness testing, commercial planning and business delivery, before terms as Chief Commercial Officer at Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT) in the Caribbean, and Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Aero Surveys (AKG) in Ghana and South Africa, as well as serving as an executive and non-executive director. Lloyd has focused on restructuring and start-up roles at different airlines over the more recent years, as well as working with major lessors such as Nordic and major financial institutions. He has served as a formal appointed post-holder and accountable manager with different airlines, as well as having held full P&L accountability.

In addition to industry specific training and certifications including executive leadership, industrial relations and aviation management, Lloyd also holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in management, science and education. This includes an MBA in Project Management from ARU. Prior to joining the University of Bedfordshire, he was Subject Lead for Aviation and Tourism and a Senior Lecturer at BNU.

Over 20 years experience in aviation, predominately at an executive or senior level and has been fortunate to live and work amidst a variety of cultures around the world, including The UK, North America, The Caribbean, Europe, Asia and The Middle East. Working for full service private and government owned airlines, aircraft lessors, in addition to other financial and advisory institutions. Lloyd has hands on experience ranging from the board room to the airport check-in desk.
