Dr Stuart Goosey
Senior Lecturer in Law
I joined the University of Bedfordshire as a Senior Lecturer in Law and LLM Course Coordinator at School of Accounting, Finance and Law of the University of Bedfordshire in 2024. Previously, I have taught at the University of Leeds, Durham University and Queen Mary, University of London. I gained my LLB at University College London (2007-2010), and a Bachelor of Civil Law at Wolfson College, Oxford (2012-2013) and PhD (2013-2017) at Queen Mary, University of London.
My main teaching areas are constitutional law and human rights. My main research interest is examining how the law should address age discrimination and unjust inequality between age groups. My publications include work on the justifiability of judicial retirement ages and work examining whether courts and tribunals should treat age discrimination as less serious than paradigm forms of discrimination. Also, I have an article in the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies arguing for extending hate crime laws to protect age groups. I have a monograph with Hart Publishing examining the morality of age discrimination and how this should guide the application of age discrimination laws to identify unjustified and unlawful age discrimination.
