What did you enjoy the most during your course?

What I mostly enjoyed was the comprehensive and easy-to-follow lectures facilitating fast-paced teaching and offering a more flexible style of learning.

What were the most important skills you developed during your course and how did these help you in your career?

The most important skill I developed during my course was public speaking. Having the confidence to say what you need to say and having the ability to say it in a concise and understandable way can be applied numerous times throughout your career. It helps me in meetings, in training sessions and inductions that need to be delivered, and when liaising with external contractors and other organisations.

Did you participate in any extra-curricular activities during your studies at Bedfordshire?

During my time at Bedfordshire, I was president of Enactus Bedfordshire, which is society that is part of a worldwide non-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring students to improve the world through entrepreneurial action. I also participated in debates whenever they were arranged by the University.

Why did you choose the University of Bedfordshire?

Honestly, because it was close to where I lived. I did not know much about universities at the time and I just picked the most convenient choice. But, in hindsight, I am very glad I chose the University of Bedfordshire as it helped shape who I am today.

What is a typical day at work?

A typical day at work will involve monitoring sites such PLC, WestLaw and sometimes even BAILII to see if there are any new reforms in law or key cases that may be relevant to our clients (such as changes to landlord obligations or a new precedent regarding the rights of cohabitees). I am also responsible for organising any sponsorships and advertising we do within the local area.

IT-wise, I am responsible for making sure that our case-management system is working with utmost efficiency. Surprisingly, the skills I developed during my law course at the University of Bedfordshire came in handy when creating workflows and agendas. For instance, a firm grasp of land law helps me to program the software that contains the steps and documents needed in conveyancing.

What would be your advice to students starting their course now?

Always make the most of what you have. There are creative ways you can put your experiences to good use. Do not be afraid to walk the road less travelled.

What are your future career plans?

I have never been one for planning. I find it more fun and exciting to just run through life and deal with scenarios as and when they come.
