Accounting and Finance team
With approximately 15 permanent and 10 visiting academics the team supports more than 400 students across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses specialising in Accounting, Finance, Economics and Banking. It also contributes expertise and teaching across the Faculty that include the MBA and MSc courses and undergraduate programmes offered by other departments within the University.
Exemptions
At undergraduate level our courses attract professional exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Association of International Accountants (AIA) and other professional bodies.
Staff
The Department consists of a team of highly qualified members. The majority of our staff hold PhDs and/or are professionally qualified in their field. Most have substantial industry experience and are engaged in applied research.
International links
We have a strong international profile and are notable for our links with China, Hong Kong, Myanmar and Oman.
Excellent learning environment
We have recently made considerable investments in our teaching facilities and outreach work with the City of London and regional businesses. The improvements to the teaching and learning environment include dedicated Reuters Finance Rooms and Datastream financial databases. Our interactions with city institutions include the London Stock Exchange and Lloyds of London.
To strengthen students' quantitative and practical skills, we also teach SPSS and Sage Accounts package. Mastering the techniques of using these packages will not only enhance student experience but significantly improve students' employability.
Research
Academics within the department are actively engaged in research and scholarship in accounting, finance, insurance, e-Business and management.
