Meryl Dimmock

Senior Lecturer in Midwifery

Meryl DimmockI am a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery and joined the University of Bedfordshire in October 2011. Prior to this my career was clinically based. I am dual qualified as both Registered Nurse and Midwife.

I have worked for 22 years in the NHS and have held positions throughout Maternity services. My main expertise is Labour ward care and the Birth Centre environment including Emergency Obstetric Care as I was a Labour Ward Co-ordinator and Matron for five years.

I am a qualified Supervisor of Midwives and a Trainer for both ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) and PROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi Professional Training). My decision not to progress into management in the NHS was prompted by undertaking a Master of Arts in Professional and Work Based Learning which I took while in the role of Practice Education Facilitator working for the East of England Strategic Health Authority.

I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
