Mary Beckwith
Senior Lecturer in Operating Department Practice
My passion for the ‘scrub and circulating’ roles in surgery began in the early 1980s when I first earned a Certificate in Surgical Technology in the United States.
I have been providing and/or teaching perioperative patient care for more than 40 years.
I’ve earned a nurses’ registration in the United States and qualifications as a registered operating department practitioner and registered nurse in the United Kingdom.
I took up my position as Senior Lecturer with the Operating Department Practice team at the University of Bedfordshire in 2008 and enjoy engaging with pre-registration students whilst employing a variety of learning strategies in and out of the classroom.
