Christopher Short
Senior Lecturer in Social Work (with Practice Learning)
I have worked with adults and families within the voluntary sector since 2006 both in homelessness and substance misuse contexts. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2013 and my practice experience has been with Adult Services, working with adults in both community, acute and rehabilitation contexts.
I have been a Stage 2 Practice Educator since 2016 and am passionate about raising the profile of Practice Educators and embedding best practice through relational pedagogy in practice learning. I took up my position as Senior lecturer with the Practice Learning Team in Social Work in November 2021 and currently deliver the Practice Education Stage 1 and 2 Units which are part of the Social Work post qualifying offer.
My research interest include practice learning and the use of technology within practice learning context. I undertook primary research into this arena in 2021 as part of my MSc, examining the experiences of Practice Educators in the adoption of a virtual pedagogy during the covid-19 pandemic.
