Andrea Thompson
Principal Lecturer and Portfolio Lead for Allied Health Professions
I joined the University in 2015 as part of the lecturing team on the Operating Department Practice programme. I became the Course Coordinator for the programme in 2017 and eventually moved into the role of Principal Lecturer and Portfolio Lead in 2022. I oversee the Allied Health Professions at the UoB and also undertake a School Enhancement Lead role as the representative for the School of Society, Community and Health. As a registered Operating Department Practitioner, I have worked in both clinical practice and academia over the last 24 years and I am proud to now be working alongside colleagues from other Allied Health Professions across the Portfolio.
I am deeply committed to our student experience and want each and every UoB learner to feel welcomed, included and valued as they progress through their studies. One of my personal and professional interests is neurodiversity and understanding more about the experiences of students with different learning styles. My current Doctoral research interests are strongly embedded in raising awareness of Neurodivergence and enhancing learner experience.
