Katy Anna Powis

Senior Lecturer in Neonatal Care

Katy Anna Powis

I have been a neonatal nurse since completing my Bachelor of Nursing from Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand in 2001. I have worked as a Clinical Educator on my Local Neonatal Unit for 17 years - responsible for education and development of all grades of staff and working as an expert nurse caring for sick and premature newborn babies. During this time I completed my Qualified in Speciality Modules in 2006, Clinical Supervision Module and Facilitating Learning in Professional Practice Module, all at level 6.

I took up my post as Neonatal Lecturer in 2017 and currently lead the Neonatal Qualified in Specialty level 6 modules that serve up to 12 neonatal units across the East of England networks. I also am a unit lead on the midwifery undergraduate program.

I have an unwavering passion for supporting the learning of students in order for them to deliver quality and holistic care of the neonate and their families.
